6th Grade Product Criteria Explained

PRODUCT Criteria (What Your Child Knows): This reflects your child’s academic mastery of specific grade-level standards, knowledge and skills. It measures what they can independently and accurately demonstrate through their graded work, projects and assessments.
 

Product Performance Levels

M — MASTERY

• Student Demonstration: Student consistently demonstrates the standards/skills.
• What This Means: Students performing at this level demonstrate mastery in standards/skills for their grade level. They show a strong understanding of the required knowledge, skills and practices and can apply them independently and accurately.

P — PROFICIENT

• Student Demonstration: Student often demonstrates the standards/skills.
• What This Means: Students performing at this level demonstrate proficiency in standards/skills for their grade level. They demonstrate an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and practices that are considered sufficient for the expectations at this grade level.

AP — APPROACHING PROFICIENCY

• Student Demonstration: Student sometimes demonstrates the standards/skills.
• What This Means: Students performing at this level are approaching proficiency in standards/skills for their grade level. They demonstrate a partial understanding of the required knowledge, skills and practices that are considered sufficient for the expectations at this grade level.

NYP — NOT YET PROFICIENT

• Student Demonstration: Student rarely or does not yet demonstrate the standards/skills.
• What This Means: Students performing at this level are not yet proficient in standards for their grade level. They may demonstrate limited knowledge, skills and practices that are considered insufficient for the expectations at this grade level or do not have enough evidence of learning to demonstrate proficiency.

Student Product Scale: Success Criteria

M — MASTERY

• What It Means: Reached the peak!
• Description: Shows a strong understanding, can consistently apply skills independently and accurately.
• Next Step: Apply skills other places.

P — PROFICIENT

• What It Means: You got it, Glowing with understanding!
• Description: Shows an understanding and applies skills sufficient for their grade level.
• Next Step: Shine more light on what you know and can do.

AP — APPROACHING PROFICIENCY

• What It Means: Almost there, progress loading!
• Description: Shows a partial understanding and can sometimes apply skills.
• Next Step: Power up with more time and reps.

NYP — NOT YET PROFICIENT

• What It Means: Just starting out!
• Description: Understanding is limited, rarely applies skills or shows no evidence of learning.
• Next Step: Grow with supports.
